Cabela's ProLine® Original Line – High Visibility Yellow

New HiVis Yellow makes it much easier to see your line out of the water, to detect bites and monitor drift. ProLine® Monofilament is designed to help you catch the biggest fish in the toughest conditions. That means a line with high performance as well as high strength. Controlled tensile strength enables ProLine™ to take the sudden shock and impact of bone-jarring hook sets with minimum stretch while withstanding the runs and surges of any game fish. All of that in a small diameter line with more than enough abrasion resistance to handle the toughest situations.

Good mono line peiod.

I have this line spooled on 6 plus reels. It performs great. II have it in the hi-vis, low-vis green and the clear in 6,8, and 10 lb test. Spool it properly and it is as good as any line costing 2 to 3 times as much. It is a good value and a better value when it is on sale.

Great Price, But An Overall Let Down

I purchased this line for drift fishing spring salmon, so keep in mind the lower pound test may work for others. We use the 20lbs and 25 lbs test. Unfortunately, when we removed the plastic cover the line exploded like a slinky and already went into a knot. Having years of experience with heavier test lines, I figured it was just stiff from packaging. However, after a few attempts at filling a Quantum Catalyst PT, then my personal Shimano Curado, it was apparent that this line was just too stiff and kinky for use, as it unraveled off the spinning reel and loose looped on my bait caster. It is much more like the 100lbs test we use on our larger sturgeon reels, and just did not work for this particular application. Hopefully the manufacturer will consider all the reviews, and in Cabela's fashion, bring a higher quality product to the table next time.

Came with breaks in line

I started putting this on my reel, but stopped when I was 1/4 done because there was a break in the line. After finding the break, I'm very reluctant to use this line. There may be other places where the line is nicked and weakened.
I would return it, but it's hardly worth paying the postage.

great line for the money!

I needed some cheap line to spool-up about 10 rods. some for the kids, some for me so I bought $50 worth of this line. I got 6,8,12,20, and 30lbs in all colors. It is great line for the kids spincasters as well as for spinning reels. I put the 12lbs line on a baitcaster, and it is very smooth. Not alot of crunch when your reeling in a fish (line digging in) and has a good smooth sound while casting. Its probally the best line for the money out there, and I would absolutly buy more! Thank you to Cabelas for keeping fishing affordable! Cant wait to try out the 30lb on my Catfish reels
