Cover holes to your fuel tank gauge, wiring system and other areas that you may need to access in the future wih these screw-in deck plates. The positive O-ring seal prevents moisture and dust from penetrating, and the overlapping lid makes them completely watertight. There are no visible mounting screws, the plates look as though they were originally part of the boat. Sizes:
a waste of money . the part that screws to the deck is WAY too thin. In order for plate to seal you must use screws with too thin of a head causing them to pull through. NOT HAPPY.
The plates were purchased as a replacement to one that i lost the cover. The dimension were slightly larger than the previous unit.
Installation was not a problem. I used a jig saw to cut the deck approx 3/8" larger. Remember: drill pilot holes when installing screws. The holes were drilled and my old screws were pan head and need to be countersink screws.
I would have been a good idea for the plate to provide the correct screws for installation. With the incorrect screws, the plate does not screw down flush (tight). It leave a small gap due to the head of the screws pushing up on the lip of the cover. The plate is sealed but the plate lip tends to flair upward and could end up being an area to get cut if walking across it with bare feet.
Installation took 10 minutes. Tools required: jigsaw, silicone caulk, marker, drill/bits (screw holes), countersink screws (#8) and screw driver. And Time!
I needed to be able to get under my trolling motor to bolt it down. This deck plate did the trick nicely. Seems durable, and looks great. No complaints.
