Well worth the $$$$$
Date:
I installed an NFB system two summers ago as I was tired of the motor turning the steering wheel and throwing me off corse while trying to set my downriggers. I would have to stop and constantly adjust the steering due to the torque steer.
The instructions were easy to follow and the installation was straight forward.
As another reviewer has said, it is best to pull your old cable out for measuring to get an accurate measurement. I didn't and needed to return mine for an exchange (a little costly but a lesson learned)
The first thing you notice after it is installed is there is no looseness or slop in the system due to the clutch system. It is nice and tight and gives it a sports car feel. It does take a little getting used to the friction that the clutches impart on the wheel but it doesn't take long and the fact you can just point it in a direction and it stays going in that direction is great. No more adjustments while trying to set lines or adjusting depth on the riggers.
Two thumbs up!!!!

Excellent upgrade for safety.
Date:
I installed this on a Smokercraft 162 with a 90hp Yamaha. The factory system still worked fine, but I was concerned how aggressively the motor could turn the steering wheel. (adjusting the trim tab helps, but the torque steer direction changes depending on trim positon).
So, I bought and installed this system. Installation wasn't too bad- just some wrenching and it was on. I did have to experiment a little to get the steering wheel to stop in the right spot, but everything else was fine. The supplied bezel is 90 degrees, so I needed to reuse some hardware from my OEM system to maintain the desired angle.
On the water... The results were as expected, but with an added bonus- the whole boat feels so much more stable and planted on the water. Cornering is much more controled. The first time we took the boat out, my wife was in the passenger seat and she immediately could tell the boat was better controled. I guess I had never realized how much I had been counter-steering to keep the boat going straight.
The only downside is two things- a) I do miss being able to grab the motor and move it to the side in the garage. b) The steering wheel does turn harder, but in my opinion, it is well worth the improved action.
Overall, a 5 star upgrade. Hope this report helps with your decision.

Old boat needed update
Date:
My boat a 1984 sea nymph 17'. It had alot of play in the steering ,it was hard to control the boat at high speeds. I ordered the teleflex replacement steering system, make sure you remove the old steering cable first to get a actuate measurement. The new system was easy to install except the part where I had to remove the 350 # motor in order to get enough clearance to get the cable shaft out of the tilt tube. The rented engine hoist worked wonderfully. after tring the new steering system out on the lake I like the feature of not feeling the engine torque at all. It made my old boat feel young again!!

Great upgrade and well built.
Date:
This was easy to put in and works well, but required a small fix. The retainer pin they use is a design flaw. It kept popping on hard right turns, requiring me to rewind all the cable and put the pin in over and over...
I put a stainless hose clamp over the helm end of the cable and pin, making a stronger hold and preventing the pin from coming out.
Other than that, great product!
