E.Z. Steer Motor Connectors

E. Z. Steer connectors are simple to install using quick connectors and clamp-on motor brackets. Each kit includes everything you need to install the self-adjusting steering rod. Great for trolling as you won't have to hang over the transom to steer anymore. Improves boating safety and convenience by letting you steer from the main wheel. Lets you steer both your main and auxiliary motors with your main steering wheel, even if one is raised or tilted. Once installed, there is no need to disconnect during your main power run. Turns are no problem. Rod automatically adjusts when more than 18 lbs. of pressure is exerted against the left or right turn stops of the auxiliary. Stainless steel rods. Mounting brackets are powder coated. No holes to drill.

    Has possibilites

I have had this system for about a yr now, I have a 115 hp merc opti and a 9.9 pro kicker everything controlled from my drivers seat. The angles of the motors and the stress put on the bar will cause the bars to seperate. A previous poster mentioned the bars coming apart, he is correct about losing the bar in the water, did that, he is also correct about the bars coming apart and striking the prop or banging off the motors, done that also. It is pretty fraustrating when your fishing and you have a problem that you have to make it to a place you can put it back together. Is there room for improvement ? no question about it, it is better than not having one, but there are improvements that can be made. I have the strap that is suppose to prevent it from pulling apart but that doesn't always work, I fish alot so if your a weekend fisherman, you might not have a problem with it at all, if you pay close attention to the bar you may not have a problem, but there are times when you need to go from the kicker to the big motor in a hurry and that is where the problem comes in. It is not cheap, but I do have to say the company will stand by it's product and will send you replacement parts. The problem is that is fishing time your wasting when waiting for the parts to arrive. I would hope they would work on an improvement to prevent the bars coming apart, if that is ever done I would easily rate this a 5 but there is some work that needs to be done first.

I gut this a few years back it works great. Reciently the detent ball and spring on it has coroded and does not work anymore I contacted the manufacturer and he repaired it for free and had a one day turn around on it left my house and returned in no time. This is a great product and a great waranty. For anyone wanting to steer the kicker from the helm this is a great product and you cant go wrong on this one, and its made in the USA.

    EZ Steer
    Date:
This product performed flawlessly for me last weekend on my first trial. the EZ Steer makes trolling solo on windy days a lot easier. before it was next to impossible to troll into the wind or across it, now it is very easy. Thank you EZ Steer
P.S. If I find out anything to the contrary in the future I will post more remarks, but for now it's thumbs up

    Not so good
    Date:
Bought this kit to steer kicker(outboard to outboard) did installation correctly got the right size unit and double checked everything again. I find that his expensive unit does not perform as advertised. Kicker motor when raised will fall away from the main when steering with the main and the rod seperates possibley hitting the main spinning prop. I have tried all possible configurations including a bungy cord restrainer support but still it does not follow correctly. I find that you must manually position the rod each time attached to the kicker motor then it will work. But this is not a unit that you can just install and you are done with. You are constantly adjusting it. It is also not easy to remove rod when in water and not to mention the risk of falling overboard or dropping the rod in the water. I would not recommend this until someone comes up with a better solution for steering or a better engineered unit.
