Shakespeare® Ugly Stik® Bigwater Boat Rods

Here is a series of rods built to take on big fish wherever you go after them. Shakespeare sends you out to the big water with a rod that won't let you down. These are tough rods made with the famous Howald Process™ and blank-through-handle construction for superior strength and sensitivity. Durable EVA foam handles and graphite-reinforced reel seats with stainless steel hoods add durability. Bigwater Rods have aluminum oxide guide inserts to prevent line abrasion, an epoxy coating to protect from UV rays, and extremely tough Carboloy tip tops.

Best Salt Water Rod Purchase Ever.

Caught Sea Bass, Blues and Stripers. Great action. Real sensitive. Friends used it and loved it. I used Commercial Fishermans rods before. Never again.

Item was shipped quickly, arrived intact, and was as described. This is an excellent starter pole for a new surf caster, seems very durable, and appears capable of delivering the expected performance.

I should have known better than to buy an Ugly Stick - I had one when I was a kid. Heavy and whippy, it's like a two pound strand of spaghetti. Save your money and buy something good.

The first trip out with this rod I hooked into a large black drum. The 30lb test was screaming off the reel so I cranked down on the drag to slow him down and the rod snapped in half in front of the first guide. Called Shakespear and sent rod back. They refunded my shipping and sent me a new rod asap. A#1 customer service!
Have since caught drum and shark on new rod and am pleased with it.
