These stainless strap eyes are not the same as pictured in the catalog or on the internet. They are a flat piece of stamped steel with rough edges and no indention for a tapered screw.

I am using the Bimini top hardware, strap eyes, around the bottom of the gunwale on my canoe to secure cargo in the canoe in case of an overturn. The strap eyes were pop rivited to the bottom side of the gunwale and a rope runs through them completely around the canoe. No matter where I put cargo to trim the canoe there is a secure and convenient tie down location. These strap eyes are perfect for my use. They are out of the way and almost unnoticable but very available and ready to be used. Sure beats trying to trim a canoe by trying to tie the cargo to the seats or thwarts.
