To help my 86 year old neighbor fish easier I installed this anchor on his boat after his daughter bought it for him. It worked great until one of the two electrical brushes on the Chinese 12-volt motor failed.MINN-KOTA parts department will not sell replacement brushes. Brushes are a very, very, basic repair part for the huge majority of electric motors!!.this from a company that prides itself on its huge business in the electric trolling motor field!!! You can only buy the whole motor and get this you also have to buy the attached transmission and gear drive for the winch. The transmission separates easily from the motor with only four allen screws but Minn-kota forces you to spend $120 for the whole unit and then the service center center took an additional $48 to install it out of my neighbors social security check for a total of $168.00 . This is not what i had ever expected from Minn-Kota . buy any other brand!!!
I like the way it operates but had a little trouble installing because the wiring inside was so short. I've had it on my pontoon boat and really like the remote control. It does not seem to run my battery down much.
The only real problem is the rope provided. I have only used it for a couple of months this year and the outer sheath on the rope is coming off. The one anchor not covered is coming off faster but even the one under cover is coming apart too.
I have 2 Deckhand 40s on my boat an they are awsome. I have remotes for both anchors right by the console, so i don't even have to leave my seat. I use them on local lakes and on lake earie, an they work great.
