The SolarController monitors charge to prevent over-charge when used for extended periods. Use it with the SolarRoll 14 or SolarFlat 15 to maintain charge level.
I was not ever able to determine if the controller worked. My battery lost it's charge to 11.4 volts when the controller was enstalled according to directions. When I used just the solar panel connected directly to the battery the voltage increased it's charge to 12.8 volts. The led indicators never came on when hooked up between the battery and the solar panel. I called Brunton and was told that they would get back to me but never did.
We have a cottage on Piedmont Lake and am only there during the weekend. Due to this I needed a way to make sure my batteries were not over-charged if I left the solar charger hooked up during the week. This is the second controller that I have purchased (one for each battery on my boat). They work very well and keep my batteries charged but not fried. Great product as well as all the items I have purchased from Cabelas.
It will take time to review the unit. In Virginia, I am not sure about the amount of sun and whether this unit is really needed. However I don't want to overcharge the battery and the price of the controller is a worthwhile addition to the Brunton Solar Panel. I would certainly recommend a controller to anyone who purchases a solar battery charger.

I have purchased two items from this company. I have a Brunton Solar panel battery maintainer and a Brunton Solar panel controller. I am very happy with the way they work. I like the idea that I can keep my battery charged and not worry about it being overcharged. I am going to purchase other items from this company.
