Starter Kit includes: nipple wrench, powder measure, 2-oz. bottle of Cabela’s Black Powder Pistol Lube, a powder flask, 30 lead roundballs, and 30 felt powder wads. Barrel length: 6-1/2". Overall length: 12-1/2". Weight: 2 lbs. 12-oz.
The order arrived when they said it would. The pistol is everything I expected and more! It shoots just fine. I've learned why they call it "black" powder....has nothing to do with the color of the powder. Its what color your cleaning patches, hands and everything else is after you clean it!
Very beautiful pistol, smooth action. I get compliments on it every where I go. Best price too for a new replica.

I had to return the first one but I did so very reluctantly. Fit and finish was good and it shot just four inches low at 25 yards, a first for me. My three other revolvers all shot high. But after three cylinder loads (18 shots) the cylinder would not turn due to a ton of soot in the works. The cylinder to barrel gap was just over .013 and there was no way to fix this. My replacement was just as nice as to looks AND the cylinder to barrel gap was only .004. It does shoot high as expected but not by much. After a little polishing on the insides the trigger pull is smooth and crisp, timing was good on both guns. On the replacement gun even the forcing cone is right at 11 degrees. I do believe Pietta is getting better over all. This is my first 36 cal. gun and I find it easy to load as compared to the 44's which makes my shoulder ball joint happy. CABELA'S is one easy company to deal with too. It's a shame car dealers and banks don't copy CABELA'S attitude!
Good overall. Some minor pits and grind marks in the brass trigger guard. Lots of sharp edges. Have not fired it yet. Spare cylinders fit as good as original. I just wish the price had been less so I could afford 2. Definately would buy again. Anxious to fire it.
A good pistol at a reasonable price. This one is sometimes hard to find other places. A good black powder pistol for a first time buyer. It is a replica of an original Remington 1858 black powder revolver. Mine has a minor fitting problem with the screw parts that go all the way through the handles. This is nothing that bothers me while shooting and some people might not even notice. My revolver also shoots consistantly low. This is something I do not like as I could deal better with fixed sights that shoot a little high. The low point of impact can be fixed by lowering the front sight which stands up above the barrel enough that it would not be noticed in appearance by most people. You can also change the way you sight on the target but if you shoot a lot of rounds through different revolvers, I consider this a bad habit. The starter kit is great for those who do not already have a small powder flask or a means of measuring powder charges of less than 50 grains (about 15 to 25 grains for this revolver). Cabela's videos on shooting and cleaning are great if you can view them on the internet. The reading material that comes with the revolver is also a must for the beginner and good information for others as well.
