Lyman No. 55 Classic Black Powder Measure

A great tool for black-powder cartridge shooters and cowboy-action shooters. Internal metering bars rotate in a non-sparking brass sleeve. Large, non-static aluminum powder reservoir holds a pound of black powder. Unique three-slide adjustment bars give you consistent accuracy. Includes 7/8" x 14 adapter, and large and small drop tubes. Mounts on bench or directly on a press or powder-measure stand.

I've been wanting one of these for about a decade and finally got around to ordering it. I was not disappointed. I made a stand for it for my reloading bench, which really helps when using it. I've loaded some .45 Colt and .44 Russian loads using it, and it worked perfectly. If you want to load Black Powder Cartridges, this is a must have!

A good powder thrower

I had one of these in Australia and decided I needed another one over here. As good as any powder thrower I used as well as having the aluminium hopper for black powder.

Powder measure

Works well with black powder. I got a consistent measure each time. While using black powder substitute, I had a problem with powder not dropping down the drop tube. I had to disassemble the unit too clear the jam. The catalog info indicates that it will mount on most stands with the #14 thread. I had purchased an RCBS powder stand for the unit but the adapter that comes with the 55 is too short to mount it on the stand, and the provided #14 nut did not thread onto the 55 adapter.
