Load a cylinder when it's removed from the revolver. Wood handle; all-metal loading mechanism. Fits .44-cal. 1851 Navy, 1860 Army, and 1858 Army cylinders.
This would be great if made with a longer steel handlel. I bought one and broke the handle off on the second cylinder hole puting in a conical bullett, I am going to redo if myself at my buddy's weld shop. Then it will be fine. beware of Traditions stuff .
Bought this so I could load the cylinder without it being on the pistol. The plunger slot is cut at an offset - it is NOT cut at 90-degrees to the pivot pin hole, so the plunger binds on the handle (it does not swing freely as it should). Tried using a file to open up the slot a bit, but because of it being cut in the wrong orientation it still binds up. Only way to fix it without using some sort of power grinder is to replace the pivot pin with a smaller diameter bolt. The wood handle is just a push-on handle, not secure at all -- and it rotates with the slightest pressure. The cylinder pin is set at an offset, so the cylinder doesn't even sit flat, which will likely make loading harder. This kind of very poor quality is what happens when the emphasis is placed on "cost savings" instead of QUALITY. I am really getting tired of the Traditions(tm) version of so-called "quality workmanship". I am going to be looking for a loading stand of much better quality -- I definitely do NOT recommend this one! Negative 3 stars.
Lines up perfectly on my new spare cylinder and cylinder on my 1851 Black Powder Confed. Revolver. Well made and works perfect. Much easyer to use this loading stand and then just switch out cylinders, put caps on..... and your safe on the right... safe on the left and range officer oks " the range is hot".... shoot and then switch out cylinders again..... Saves wear and tear on the gun parts.
I bought this a few months ago. The first time to the range the handle bent. The center pin fits sloppy on the 1860 Colt, but fits better on the 1858 Remington. Look on-line in the various forums for better built unit.
