I am very pleased with this purchase. I compared these Leupold 8x42 BX-2 Acadia binoculars side by side with other more expensive models(the counter person helped me take them outdoors for comparisons) and have to say this unit is just as good and in some cases better. The clarity is amazing; light transmission is better than anything I've found in this price range. Once I had them home & in the woods, these binoculars exceeded my expectations, especially in low light! The wide field of view makes for a panoramic scene, almost like it's in HD! I can't say enough good things about the Acadia Bx-2. You have to try them to appreciate optics this good at this price.

Great view and value

I have the Green Ring Acadia 10x42 binos that I got last year. That model has been discontinued and replaced with the current listing for the BX2 Acadia 10x42. So I started trying to locate the differences. Based on Leupold's information here are the main differences I could find. Linear FOV for this new model has increased from 325ft @ 1000 yrds to 368ft @ 1000 yrds; Angular FOV has increased from 6 degrees to 7 degrees; the length of the binos went from 6" to 6.2 and the eye relief increased from 14mm to 15.5 mm. The exterior casing now has a textured material where our fingers rest. Otherwise the specs are the same. As for the product, I find it to be a good value. They provide great viewing in low light conditions, are light weight and durable. If you are hunting in open fields like out West the 10x42 are great for getting optimum view. If you are a bow hunter or tend to be in a more wooded location I might recommend you consider the 8x42 in this model. Waterproof and clear. Very pleased. Also own the Cascade 8x42. Great products.
