Got these in the Bargain Cave and first time out they worked fine. Photo was not great, similar to my first digital camera, but acceptable. The next time I tried them the camera part would not power on. I put new batteries in and still nothing. Went to Bushnell Q&A and it said if camera does not power on to send them back. They must have had previous problems with camera. Binoculars are fine and I considered giving a 2, but since camera quit working after first time, a poor rating is more justified.

Not the best, but worth the money

When I bought these I knew with 1.2 mp resolution, the image wouldn't be great, but it is pretty good thanks to Bushnell's optics. From reading the ad, I thought it would capture what we see. Not quite. It has a fixed focal length, so it works good for anything 50 feet or more away. Anyone who thinks they are going to take stunning photos is only kidding themselves. As for "software" causing computer lock-ups, maybe you'd better look for another reason; your computer treats this like another drive, nothing more, nothing less. This is a good pair of binoculars with the capability of also capturing stills and short video of things you find interesting. If you are looking for "great" photos, spend the extra money for the better version.

I purchased these last year (2009). I've used them about ten times. Picture quality is ok. However, the software provided locks up my computer when downloading. So you guessed it, I just use them as a binocular.
