With a head and tail that moves in the slightest breeze, this decoy will be the best weapon in your deer-decoying arsenal. Scar is an incredibly realistic decoy with a soft body for quiet carry and assembly in the field. A sturdy metal stake keeps the decoy in place in windy conditions. Each of the components (head, ears, antlers and legs) fit inside the body cavity. This makes it easier to carry and cuts down on unwanted noise in the field. Weight: 13.6 lbs. Dimensions: 49"L x 51"H x 13"W.
Purchased the Primos Scarface decoy last mid October just in time for the PA rut to kick in. Admittedly I was a little hesitant about using an articulated decoy that stored all of its parts inside the body but my doubts were quickly erased. I used it the last couple of week of October to work the kinks out of setting up and taking down the decoy and to see how the deer might respond. With a bit of PRACTICE, it is not difficult at all to set up and take down and pack up the legs and head into the body. On November 3rd, the rut had just started to get going and on a nice clear, VERY COLD 22 degree morning, I arrowed a beatiful 3 year old 9 point as he side stepped up to within 3 feet of Scarface's nose, about to beat it like it owed him money. With a little tweaking of the motion system, you can get this decoy to present a very lifelike motion. The detail is great and the softer plastic body makes it a little quieter to haul through the woods. Overall nice decoy, and very easy to set up if you're smarter than the decoy.
I have some of the same problems with this decoy as other reviewers. Pretty much impossible to get all parts back in body, the stand bent at the bottom, and the head was not real easy to just pop on and off. However, if you get the decoy set up, and get it level, the head moves easily in the winde, and the tail also moves. I usually use it near a ground blind we built on edge of field, so I have advantage of leaving decoy together and just sticking it in blind when done hunting. I had 4 or 5 different bucks check it out this year, some circling as many as 6 or 7 times. Primos customer service is fantastic, they answer questions promplty. Ran into one small problem. Went to the blind one day during the season, and the furry part of the tail had been pulled off the metal bracket and stolen by a squirrel or pack rat. Emailed customer service earlier this week, asked them if I could purchase just the tail. Their response "What is your address, we will just send you a new one". Always have had good experience with Primos products.
I had a Buck come in and stand 5 yards away starring at Scarface and then putting his head down and eating. I got more responses to my calling having Scarface close by to add authenticity for curious bucks looking around. Easy to put together but difficult to store in body cavity. I was pleased over all.
