    Not so good shiners
    Date:
I purchased 100 of the large preserved shiners and tried them out in "steelhead" fishing off of Lake Erie this past April. When we were baiting our hooks we could smell a strange odor (not like formaldehyde) coming from the minnows. The fish wouldn't touch the bait. Even the ones that we could see in the clear shallows would actually move away from the bait as if it were offensive to them. Tried live minnows, rooster tails, and minnow lures--all with good success. This will be the first purchase that I have made from Cabela's in the 12 years that I have been a customer that was unsatisfactory.

    Handy

Easy to use and have on hand. Holds together well, stores easily. Not convinced that they are as good as fresh minnows, but they will work when fresh is not available. Glad that I made the purchase.
