I bought a set of the grips for my 2011 polaris ATV and one side would not even tight up out of the box. After looking at it I noticed the screw goes into a gold nut inside the bottom of the base and it is housed by plastic which will strip over time, but my problem was the gold nut would not stay in place it would work its way out of the sleave when I started to tighten it. If I did get it half way tight, once I hit the trail it would loosen to the point of just bounce out.
