Description:
Very interesting, late 18th/early 19th century Persian Jezail rifle. These handmade muzzleloading rifles were used in British India, Central Asia, and parts of the Middle East. They were used in the Anglo-Afghan wars and many other conflicts. The Jezail no longer sees any use in general warfare of any kind, but was used by Afghan Militia against the Soviets in the 1980’s. This particular Jezail has Ivory butt plate and Ivory/Bone inlays at the trigger and sling connections. Barrel bands are engraved. Wonderful piece that would look great above anyone’s fireplace.
