After reading the reviews for this product, I was convinced the Tallon .22 Mag. was what I wanted. I took "arrowman2317's" advice and ordered several 200/count tins of Baracuda Match pellets @ 21.30 gr. Haven't taken it out to the range yet, but have no reason not to expect like results.
Being a bachelor, I set up a Cabella's spring Catalog at the end of the hallway (about 35 ft.). The Tallon Mag. drove the Baracuda Match pellets through, to page 568. Pages were torn to p.665 (i.e. this is the hard cover edition). Virtually the same performance as a subsonic .22 short (710 fps) out of a 26" barrel Remington pump action. NO TOY!
In summary, Holy Jumpin' Gehosapaht; to re-emphasize the other comments; NOT a kids gun, quite an effort to cock, and man-oh-man...remember, you own the pellet until it stops. And with this machine, it's really going to take something to stop whatever comes out of the business end.
Big air gun, lots of effort carrying and cocking. Not a young persons gun. First off the scope that came with the rifle was near junk, no focus, usually the outside of the sight picture on a scope indicates cheap not with this one it starts in the very center. I opted for a Leapers 3-9x32 bugblaster with mil dot.,,,,Very accurate once you find the correct ammo. I went through 12 different types to find 2 that shot really well through this gun at 35 yards. Pellet weight with this HOT SHOT is the key. Decent groups were at 21 grains plus... Number 1 best group for me was with H&N Baracuda match @ 21.14 grain supposedly.Shots were touching most times or within 1/4 inch at 35 yards......Simply amazing....so happy to finally find a shooter. (my zero) Looking at the exact duplicate by sight only were the Beeman kodiaks @21.14 grains, lots of flyers and inconsistant 2 inch groups at 35yards no grain scale to verify weight but these always shot low compared to the H&N's so I would say the Beemans Kodiaks weighed less. I shot all the 15.4 grainers in Gamo all were flyers, the crossman premiers at 14.3 were inconsistent with lots of flyers, Beemans starting at the crow mags at 18.21 where the pellets finally started getting into 2 inch groups at 35 yards (massive hitting energy). If you buy this big spring gun get a pellet to drop below the sound barrier to shoot with adequate accuracy imo. The other shooter is a EUNJIN 28.5 grain pellet that is -5 dots on the mil scope for center (zero from above) , but touch almost every shot at 35 yards guarentee with my air rifle. I tried a couple of differnt yardages, one at 25 and the compensation changed dramatically but the group size shrunk.....instead of -5 at 35 we went to -2 at 25 yards on target. I write this as a savior to me sending the rifle back as being inaccurate, and to sending the scope back as floating inards. Try some heavy pellets and you can not go wrong with this big spring gun. Shots thus far on striped gophers are "slap" no flop game over.
I was looking for a new air rifle then I saw this and with the 1,000 fps in 22 and it's five star rating while it still being cheap I decided it was defiantly worth a shot. Trust me this was no mistake I have been literally blowing apples, walnuts, clays, etc up the power is insane. But this is defiantly not a toy I dropped dead a squirrel a 100 yards with it no problem I even measured the distance. If the are any words for this gun it is power and destruction. This is truly great gun.
If you are looking for a high powered pellet rifle in .22 cal. look no further. This rifle has everything you need, It WILL shoot through 1/2 inch plywood. And group 1 inch at 50 yards. This is NOT a toy. Also has see though scope mounts and great iron sights. Trigger pull is average. And the 1000 fps. is with standerd pellets.( 1150 fps. with hyper vel. pellets. Right on the box)
