Better off with a RWS Model 48
Date:
Regretfully .I do not recommend this pellet rifle if it’s going to be your only spring air rifle. Try out the RWS model 48 (see my review) if you only want one rifle.
I purchased my 350 mag in .22 and had a issue with the rifle and Cabela’s amazing customer service shipped me the new rifle prior to receiving the defective one. The woman was wonderful! Be sure if you have a rifle return to do it within 30 days.
I have the new one working now but the VERY powerful 350 has schooled me in the spring air rifle deficiency known as hold sensitivity. Springers recoil from the heavy metal spring and spring piston. This recoil happens prior to the pellet leaving the barrel and effects group. I had to learn how to manage this deficiency by reading on-line (google “pellet gun hold sensitivity”). I also have to shoot VERY heavy pellets to help calm this monster down! I shoot the 21 grain Beeman’s. 14 grain pellets are all over the target! I’m betting the .177 is not a good shooing gun, you must go heavy to calm it down. This Rifle taught me how to shoot my RWS model 48 better since I learned about hold sensitivity.
It’s very loud and bothers gun-shy dogs and neighbors. If I’m at the range I wear ear protection when shooting this monster for extended shots. You must be above average strength to cock the rifle.
I get groups, on a good day, around 1 inch to 1 ¼ at 100 feet (no that I know how to hold it) My RWS 48 is much better gun (see my review) but for some reason I still shoot this monster almost every day. It will also kill a squirrel from 100 feet. Plinking is fun because of the big splash the .22 cal pellet makes. It blows a hole in the bark of a pear tree cut log the size of a dime. It does not shoot through a ½ plywood.
It’s nice looking and well made. Balance is OK but not as good as my RWS 48.
Be aware of the terminal velocity of the heavy pellet. Remember you are responsible for that pellet until it is at rest.
Be safe this is not a toy and can cause death, please do not allow children to use unsupervised.

The .22 model. It's powerful, no doubt about it. It also had what I consider an essential feature; the ability to dis-arm (un-cock) without firing. I also was very impressed with how quiet it was.
Unfortunately, it's way heavy and the strong recoil seriously cut into the ease of getting a good, accurate shot off. Also, even though I did my utmost to mount the scope as best as possible, at 75 feet I could not for the life of me get consistent accuracy. I want to kill squirrels, not wound them.
I couldn't justify the high cost with the number of strikes against it. Had to send it back.

Great quality air rifle
Date:
Absolutely amazing, the accuracy and power is perfect. I've been shooting Gamo and Sheridan air riifles my entire life and always eyed one of the German riles. Why I waited so long is a loss to me. The Compact 350 is in a league of it's own. I went with the .22 cal and it is incredible. The rifles, scope and stock is all top quality. Trigger is great. A little heavy but I can live with that. I had it sighted in at 25 yds. with with 13 rounds, dime sized group with the last 4 and then just enjoyed shooting different targets after that. I cringe at what I missed waiting this long to get this rifle being that I'm 47 now.
Don't wait as long as I did if your thinking about buying one for yourself.
This is a serious adult air rifle...I highly recommend it.

Great Performance and Craftsmanship
Date:
Bought the Model 350 in 0.177 caliber and it has exceeded all of my expectations. I was a bit reluctant to purchase the RWS given the high price tag, but the quality of the stock and receiver matched that of many high end hunting rifles. Definitely an "heirloom quality" rifle to pass down to the next generation.
I had previously purchased a Crosman Storm XT and returned it because the quality and accuracy were lacking. Granted, the RWS costs significantly more, but you definitely get what you pay for. A few comparisons/comments:
The effort required to cock the RWS was about the same as the Crosman, despite the fact that muzzle velocity is about 200 to 300 fps faster.
The RWS maintains supersonic velocity and accuracy with almost all of the ammunition I have tested so far. The Storm would only do so with the PBA Raptor ammunition, but then accuracy was horrible (7" groups at 25 yards). The Storm did maintain decent groupings (1 to 2") at sub-sonic speeds.
The scope on the RWS is also very nice, having a parallax correcting objective lens (doubles as a nice range-finder in the field). The mount also appeared to be very solid and had built in compensation to correct for barrel droop. The Storm had a CenterPoint scope which also performed well, but was more difficult to mount and produced an image that was not quite as sharp.
The RWS sounds like a 0.22 short cartridge when fired. Still amazes me that an air rifle can be so powerful. As with any of the break-barrel rifles, it does require relearning how to shoot in order to compensate for the spring-action on recoil. Lots of good info on the web about this. Also took 100 or so rounds to break it in.
As with any of these rifles, it is sensitive to ammunition. In general, have had poor luck with the pointed-tip ammo. Most accurate (of those that I have tried) is probably the Gamo 7.71gr "Match" Diabolo. Maintained a 5 shot group that could be covered by a nickel at 25 yards. Also had good luck with RWS Super H Point, and Gamo "Hunter" (a domed top). Some of the heavier ammo in the 10+gr range are supposed to be even better, particularly in domed configuration and I hope to try these next.
All in all, you can't go wrong buying this air rifle. Service from Cabela's was great as always...
