Flex Coat Five-Minute Epoxy Glue is a clear, high-strength formula for rod builders, fly-tiers and lure makers. Bonds reel seats, grips, tip tops, etc. Perfect for epoxy flies and lures. The two-part mixture has a pot life of five minutes and dries to the touch in 10-15 minutes. The bond can be put to light use immediately. Mixture reaches full strength overnight. Per 4 oz.
I use this epoxy to replace rod tips. It's long lasting but can be removed using a flame if you need to replace another tip down the line. It's what the pro rod builders use. Good stuff. Keep a few things in mind when using it:
1) You must mix carefully! I suggest using a small "bowl" shaped out of cooking foil. This reduces air bubbles and helps mix the product more evenly. Use exactly amounts of both products and mix thoroughly.
2) Use a small amount around the end of the rod (very tip) and place a little in the tube of the guide to be replaced. I use a toothpick to drip a little into the tip tube.
3) Position the guide correctly, carefully wipe away any overage and let set.
This is a 5 minute epoxy. The good part is it comes in 2 containers and you can mix to the size and amount you need. 5 minute epoxy used to come this way; however, I can't find it in stores anymore.
